What You'll Do9
- 1Serve as first-chair trial counsel in jury trials bench trials and arbitrations
- 2Lead trial strategy and courtroom presentation
- 3Prepare and examine witnesses including plaintiffs corporate representatives and experts
- 4Conduct voir dire opening statements direct and cross-examinations and closing arguments
- 5Handle pretrial proceedings motions in limine evidentiary issues jury instructions and verdict forms
- 6Collaborate with litigation teams to maximize case leverage
- 7Evaluate cases from a trial lawyer perspective and guide second-chair assignments
- 8Mentor attorneys for trial preparation and second-chair duties
- 9Establish and elevate the firm's trial systems and courtroom culture
Requirements7
- 1Extensive first-chair jury trial experience in California employment law
- 2Proven record of taking cases through verdict not just assisting with preparation
- 3Substantial experience with California Fair Employment and Housing Act discrimination harassment retaliation whistleblower claims wrongful termination labor code violations wage-and-hour claims
- 4Strong command of California employment law evidence and trial practice
- 5Ability to simplify complex facts into compelling stories for judges and juries
- 6Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
- 7Plaintiff-side experience preferred but defense-side background acceptable
