What You'll Do7

  • 1Develop and execute case strategy for complex civil litigation, including constitutional challenges and property rights disputes.
  • 2Draft and argue law and motion matters, including demurrers, motions for summary judgment, and discovery motions.
  • 3Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and taking and defending depositions.
  • 4Counsel clients on legal options and risks, providing clear guidance through settlement negotiations and trial preparation.
  • 5Prepare and try cases to verdict in state and federal court, with a focus on appeals and appellate brief writing.
  • 6Supervise and mentor a junior attorney, guiding litigation strategy, legal research, and professional growth.
  • 7Collaborate with firm principals on high-impact litigation, presenting oral arguments before California trial and appellate courts.

Requirements6

  • 1Active membership in the California Bar in good standing.
  • 25+ years of civil litigation experience, independently managing cases through all phases.
  • 3Background in constitutional law, property rights, education, or land use strongly preferred.
  • 4Appellate experience, including brief writing and oral argument.
  • 5Proven ability to handle complex litigation with minimal supervision.
  • 6Willingness to travel occasionally throughout California for court appearances and client meetings.
