What You'll Do8

  • 1Manage a caseload of complex, high-asset family law matters, including divorce, custody, and property division.
  • 2Draft legal documents: pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements using Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • 3Conduct legal research and analysis on California Family Code and case law to support litigation strategy.
  • 4Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • 5Prepare clients for depositions, hearings, and trial, and appear in court for hearings and conferences.
  • 6Collaborate with forensic CPAs, financial experts, and discovery attorneys to build financial cases.
  • 7Communicate with clients regularly to provide case updates and manage expectations.
  • 8Mentor junior associates and contribute to firm-wide knowledge sharing.

Requirements7

  • 12+ years of family law experience, with a focus on litigation and complex cases.
  • 2Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.
  • 3Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills, demonstrated by briefs and court appearances.
  • 4Experience with discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • 5Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with minimal supervision.
  • 6Familiarity with financial statements, business valuations, and forensic accounting in family law.
  • 7Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS) or a commitment to obtain certification within 2 years.
