Traffic Engineer, Highway Design & Analysis
Overview
This role owns traffic design and analysis for highway projects in Pittsburgh, with 5-10 years of direct experience. You will lead or oversee traffic control, signal, and signing plans, plus mentor junior engineers. The team works on PennDOT and PA Turnpike projects, with opportunities for PTOE certification and business development. What You'll Do8
- 1Design or oversee traffic improvements for highway projects, including MicroStation and InRoads models
- 2Develop or oversee traffic control, signal, and signing/pavement marking plans
- 3Perform or oversee traffic analysis and modeling using Synchro and HCS
- 4Complete or oversee technical reports summarizing recommendations for transportation projects
- 5Review and seal traffic-related submittals as a licensed PE in PA
- 6Mentor junior engineers on design standards and project delivery
- 7Collaborate with team members, consultants, and clients to drive project success
- 8Attend professional meetings to build relationships and support business development
Requirements9
- 15-10 years of direct experience in traffic design for transportation projects
- 2BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- 3Active PE license in PA required
- 4PTOE certification or willingness to obtain it
- 5Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 6Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- 7CADD experience with MicroStation, InRoads, or OpenRoads preferred
- 8Willingness to perform project site visits
- 9PennDOT or PA Turnpike experience preferred
Salary Insight
$93 - $104k per year
