Tanker Driver, Hazmat & Doubles Endorsement
Overview
You will own safe and efficient transport of bulk liquid freight across California and interstate routes, operating tractor-trailer combinations with 48' to 57' dry vans or 42' tanks. You will manage long-haul trips, handle loading and unloading, and ensure compliance with DOT and State regulations. Your work supports Biagi Bros.' wine and juice product handling through the demanding harvest season. You will join a team that relies on precision and reliability, with opportunities to train and advance.
What You'll Do10
- 1Drive tractor-trailer combinations safely and efficiently, navigating heavy traffic, inclement weather, and tight loading docks.
- 2Hook and unhook trailers from the tractor or converter dollies, including pushing and pulling dollies and cranking landing gear.
- 3Load and unload trailers, individually or with dock workers, using mechanical freight-handling equipment when needed.
- 4Perform fueling tasks and inspect tractor, trailer, and equipment for defects before, during, and after trips, logging conditions via AOBRD.
- 5Check shipping papers to verify load nature and cargo placement, adding blocking or load locks as required.
- 6Install and remove tire chains based on weather conditions to maintain traction and safety.
- 7Drive up to 10 hours interstate and 12 hours California intrastate, followed by 8+ hours off-duty, per Federal and State regulations.
- 8Ensure shipping documentation like bills of lading and weight tickets are accurate, and submit signed bills of lading to dispatch daily.
- 9Maintain driver logs, fuel purchase records, and mileage records to comply with State and Federal regulations.
- 10Report accidents, hazards, delays, or irregularities promptly to dispatch via two-way phone.
Requirements10
- 1Valid Commercial Driver's License with Doubles/Triples endorsement required.
- 2Hazmat endorsement preferred, not required.
- 3Prior tractor-trailer experience with 48' to 57' dry vans or 42' tanks.
- 4Ability to read, write, and perform basic math in English.
- 5Skilled in driving manual transmission - 10 speed or 15 speed.
- 6Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
- 7Knowledge of DOT and State regulations for safe driving, hours of service, and hazardous materials.
- 8Availability for around-the-clock trips and extended periods away from home.
- 9Meet U.S. DOT medical standards and pass drug test, subject to random testing.
- 10Physical ability: sit and remain alert up to 11 hours interstate and 16 hours California intrastate, shift gears, squat/crouch to handle freight, climb in/out of cab 8-10 times daily, push/pull up to 2000 lbs on dolly, carry 1-50 lbs freight, reach overhead and below waist, install tire chains, spend 40% standing and 20% walking, operate ELD.
