Systems Engineer I - Chicago | Lessen
Overview
You will configure, implement, and administer server hardware, operating systems, and applications across a property services platform supporting 1 million properties. You will work with Microsoft Server, Exchange, and VMware or Hyper-V in a security-focused environment. Collaborating with IT managers, you will shape the technology architecture and respond to escalated issues. This role offers exposure to Cisco Unified Communications and disaster recovery planning, with a path to grow as an SME.
What You'll Do10
- 1Configure, implement, and maintain server hardware and operating systems, including Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016, following IT security and audit policies.
- 2Administer and secure assigned systems, ensuring integrity and resilience of messaging infrastructure and Storage Area Network.
- 3Collaborate with IT managers to plan and design architecture that supports organizational growth.
- 4Assist in developing the technology architecture, including hardware, software, networking, and support processes.
- 5Troubleshoot system, network, and voice issues, including Cisco Unified Communications and Voice Over IP.
- 6Evaluate new technologies for potential adoption.
- 7Provide advanced support for escalated helpdesk issues and document procedures.
- 8Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft Server, Exchange, Anti-Virus, and Anti-SPAM products.
- 9Provide after-hours support and on-site emergency response as needed.
- 10Assist with daily backups, offsite storage administration, and disaster recovery planning.
Requirements12
- 1Bachelor's degree in computer related field or equivalent experience
- 2Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience
- 34+ years of IT experience supporting complex computer/system environments
- 43-5 years on a helpdesk
- 53-5 years experience with Ethernet network environment and peripherals
- 6Experience with Cisco Unified Communications and Voice Over IP
- 7Experience with HP, IBM, or Dell servers
- 8Experience with VMware or Hyper-V
- 9Experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016
- 10Experience with Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016 or Office 365
- 11Experience with network monitoring tools
- 12Experience with disaster recovery and planning concepts
