Systems Administrator II UNIX / Linux, Red Hat & Automation
Overview
Red Hat Linux systems and open source tooling are at the core of this role you will own the stability and performance of enterprise servers and workstations at scale. You will work on a mission critical team delivering onsite support in Research Triangle Park NC. You will write bash and Ansible scripts to automate administration while configuring storage, backups, and security policy compliance. This role emphasizes hands on systems engineering, documentation, and collaboration with management and customers to meet security requirements.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the installation and rebuild of Red Hat servers and workstations and configure hardware, SAN storage, and local storage.
- 2Create and maintain installation and configuration procedures for repeatable deployments with a focus on reliability.
- 3Automate administration tasks using bash and Ansible to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
- 4Perform backups, restorations, patches, and updates in alignment with standards and project needs.
- 5Develop and update IT policies and procedures for operational use and security.
- 6Evaluate new hardware and software needs and associated costs in coordination with management.
- 7Maintain network diagrams and system configurations to support audits and operations.
- 8Ensure compliance with security protocols and participate in vulnerability remediation activities.
- 9Provide quality assurance reviews of new and existing software products and assist with complex hardware/software integrations.
- 10Demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills while supporting a fast paced, high volume environment.

- 35 years of experience as UNIX / Red Hat Linux systems administrator
- 4Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems preferred
- 5Strong knowledge of Red Hat Linux Operating Systems and server hardware
- 6Experience with SAN storage configuration, LVM on Linux
- 7Experience with scripting in bash and Ansible and automation tooling
- 8Knowledge of Kerberos AD SAMBA Veritas NetBackup Nagios ESXi VMware and Red Hat Satellite preferred
- 9Desirable security experience with STIGs vulnerability scanning and remediation
- 10Ability to lift 40 lbs and perform physical equipment moves and rack operations
