System Operations Technical Trainer, NERC & Grid Operations
Overview
You will own the training and development of Bulk Electric System Operators, using ADDIE to design and deliver NERC-compliant programs. You will build simulation scenarios, track continuing education credits, and mentor operators through qualification. You will join a supportive team of trainers and gain exposure to industry best practices. This role offers a path to senior training leadership and direct impact on grid reliability.
What You'll Do10
- 1Develop NERC-compliant training for new and existing operators using the ADDIE model.
- 2Design simulation scenarios on the Dispatch Training Simulator to prepare operators for abnormal and emergency conditions.
- 3Write NERC CE Approved Individual Learning Activity applications and track operator certification hours.
- 4Collaborate with the Training Director and peers to enhance training methods and tools.
- 5Document operator performance and training records accurately in file and data management systems.
- 6Facilitate training sessions for operators and leadership, ensuring positive engagement.
- 7Handle unexpected training challenges, such as technology malfunctions, without compromising learning quality.
- 8Communicate innovative training approaches to the Training Director for consideration.
- 9Present at operator conferences and workshops to establish industry leadership.
- 10Maintain professional interactions with an actively caring attitude across the organization.
Requirements9
- 1Technical degree plus 2+ years related work experience, or High School/GED plus 4+ years related work for System Ops Tech Trainer.
- 2Technical degree plus 4+ years related work for Senior System Ops Tech Trainer, or High School/GED plus 6+ years related work.
- 3NERC Certified Operator or ability to obtain within 1 year.
- 42+ years demonstrated training support experience (desired).
- 5Excellent people skills and ability to work with diverse personalities.
- 6Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 7Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
- 8Experience in course development and presentation facilitation.
- 9Willingness to travel to conferences and workshops occasionally.
