Surgical Technician, Operating Room (OR) - Nashville
Overview
You will own the sterile field and instrumentation for surgical procedures at a 167-bed Level III Trauma Center in Nashville. You will prepare the OR, pass instruments, and process specimens alongside the surgical team. Working under surgeon delegation, you will ensure safety and efficiency in every case. This role offers BLS certification support and growth within a large healthcare network.
What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare the surgical suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, and equipment for each procedure.
- 2Verify equipment and instruments are in good working order before surgery.
- 3Assist with patient transport, positioning, and draping.
- 4Pass instruments to the surgeon during surgery, anticipating needs.
- 5Receive and process surgical specimens for delivery to the lab.
- 6Maintain sterile technique throughout the case, correcting breaks in protocol.
- 7Stock and organize the OR to ensure readiness for the next procedure.
- 8Collaborate with the circulating nurse and surgical team to meet patient needs.
Requirements7
- 16+ months of relative surgical tech experience required.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3BLS certification through AHA within one month of hire.
- 4Knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique.
- 5Familiarity with surgical instruments and equipment.
- 6Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- 7Must be available for full-time day shifts, including on-call rotation.
