What You'll Do11
- 1Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments equipment and sterile supplies according to procedure specific requirements
- 2Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all surgical procedures
- 3Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments sutures and supplies
- 4Anticipate surgeon needs and respond promptly during surgery
- 5Perform surgical counts sponges needles and instruments in collaboration with nursing staff
- 6Prepare and position patients for surgery ensuring comfort safety and proper anatomical alignment
- 7Handle clean sterilize and decontaminate surgical instruments per regulatory and manufacturer standards
- 8Monitor sterile field integrity and immediately correct contamination risks
- 9Assist with cleaning of the operating room
- 10Comply with OSHA Joint Commission CMS and infection prevention standards
- 11Participate in in service staff meetings quality improvement safety initiatives and continuing education activities
Requirements6
- 1High school diploma or equivalent graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- 2Two years of related experience
- 3Current Certified Surgical Technologist CST certification or equivalent credential
- 4Physical ability to lift and position patients equipment up to 50 lbs
- 5Prolonged standing bending and fine motor activity
- 6Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and surgical chemicals in accordance with OSHA Standards
