Summer Camp Staff Development Coach
Overview
You will train and coach 200+ camp leaders and counselors to elevate their teaching, directly shaping the experience of 4,000+ campers across 10+ STEM camp locations in NYC and Boston. You will work with Site Directors and headquarters teams to implement coaching systems and quality protocols. This role combines hands-on classroom observation with strategic staff development, preparing you for broader educational leadership roles. You will receive comprehensive STEM training and coaching frameworks, no prior STEM background required.
What You'll Do7
- 1Observe campsite leaders and teachers, analyze feedback, and set specific coaching goals for each staff member.
- 2Coach camp leaders on effective teaching techniques and behavior management, with a focus on positive youth development.
- 3Partner with Site Directors to nurture and develop educational staff through regular check-ins and collaborative goal-setting.
- 4Ensure all camp protocols are implemented correctly, maintaining NORY quality standards across all locations.
- 5Guide staff on behavior management strategies and parent communication when needed.
- 6Communicate with headquarters teams (curriculum, operations, customer happiness) to improve support systems for campsite staff.
- 7Develop and deliver training sessions for camp staff on teaching strategies, child development, and camp culture.
Requirements5
- 15+ years experience in educational leadership, including managing and training teaching staff.
- 2Proven ability to implement effective teaching strategies and improve educational outcomes.
- 3Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with teachers, parents, and staff.
- 4Knowledge of child development and experience adapting teaching methods to diverse learning needs.
- 5Experience with data-driven decision making and feedback analysis.
