Overview
You will own the sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments at a Dallas medical facility, ensuring every tray meets SPD standards. You will work onsite with a small team, managing inventory and documenting every cycle. Your SPD certification and knowledge of sterilization principles keep the operating room safe. This contract role demands precision and constant attention to detail.
What You'll Do7
- 1Clean each instrument per manufacturer instructions, inspect under microscope for damage, and lubricate as required.
- 2Sort and arrange items into proper trays, wrap them, and label each with name and expiration date.
- 3Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and other processing equipment, selecting correct cycles and checking indicators.
- 4Perform biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers and document results per policy.
- 5Maintain inventory levels, track instrument ray lists, and update preference cards.
- 6Inspect sterile items weekly for outdated or compromised packages and replace as needed.
- 7Record counts of items sent to and returned from laundry accurately.

- 1SPD certification required.
- 2Experience in central processing preferred.
- 3Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required.
- 4English language skills and communication required.
- 5Ability to stand or walk at least 5 hours per day and lift/carry over 20 pounds regularly.
