Staff Accountant Real Estate Property Management
Overview
Lead financial reporting and analysis for community associations within a real estate portfolio. Drive accurate statements and support strategic decisions across multiple client relationships.
What You'll Do9
- 1Produce monthly and annual financial reports for assigned associations ensuring accurate statements and supporting schedules
- 2Review account activity explain budget-to-actual variances communicate financial insights to managers and board members
- 3Prepare and post journal entries for accruals prepaids depreciation and intercompany activity maintaining general ledger integrity
- 4Lead month-end and year-end close activities verifying transactions reconciling balances confirming timely entry completion
- 5Complete detailed reconciliations for bank reserve operating receivable payable deferred revenue and other balance sheet accounts resolving discrepancies promptly
- 6Assist with audit and tax preparation assembling work papers schedules and responding to external partner requests
- 7Maintain compliance with HOA financial guidelines internal policies and state requirements
- 8Partner with community management and internal teams to address billing questions investigate financial issues and improve accounting processes
- 9Support onboarding of new association clients establishing chart of accounts structures opening balances and integration into reporting workflows
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- 23+ years progressive accounting experience preferably in HOA property management or real estate
- 3Proficiency in financial statement preparation general ledger management journal entries and account reconciliations
- 4Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
- 5Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables VLOOKUPS and financial modeling
- 6Experience with accounting software such as Village Management System
- 7Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 8High degree of accuracy and analytical problem solving abilities
- 9Ability to manage multiple client portfolios meeting recurring deadlines
Salary Insight
$60 - $70k per year
