STA Assembly Process Engineer, Global Manufacturing
Overview
You will own the global standard for Assembly manufacturing processes across Ford's supplier network. You will lead the industrialization of new technologies and standardize technical competency for the STA team. You will work with Product Development to ensure design for manufacturability. This role sets the technical direction for Assembly, Fastening Systems, Material Dispense, Press Fit, and Vision Systems.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead global Assembly process standards and drive Prevent Recurrence through lessons learned and best practices.
- 2Conduct manufacturing risk assessments for new Assembly technologies using the GTDS process.
- 3Execute regional business plans for the Assembly special process area, focusing on Fastening Systems, Material Dispense, Press Fit, Leak and EOL Testing, and Vision Systems.
- 4Prioritize and perform process assessments for Assembly across the supply base.
- 5Benchmark Assembly technologies to stay current on equipment and methods.
- 6Develop and deliver training on Assembly standards and advanced technologies.
- 7Solve critical quality issues (Stop Ships, Field Actions) using Six Sigma problem-solving.
- 8Interface with Product Development to provide design for manufacturability input for Assembly.
- 9Travel regionally and globally to support supplier assessments and launches.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field.
- 28+ years of experience in manufacturing processes, with focus on Assembly.
- 3Deep knowledge of Assembly processes including Fastening Systems, Material Dispense, Press Fit, Leak and EOL Testing, Vision Systems, and craftsmanship.
- 4Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or advanced problem-solving certification.
- 5Strong knowledge of Problem Solving and Quality Tools (8D, SPC, MSA).
- 6Experience with Ford vehicle or powertrain development and launch processes.
- 7Ability to provide technical leadership to peers and management.
- 8Proficiency in English for global communication.
- 9Willingness to travel 50-75% regionally and globally.
