Overview

Mechanical design leadership for automated welding and additive manufacturing systems at scale within Actalent. You'll own component and tooling design, collaborate across Applications, Electrical, Software, Process, and Manufacturing teams, and present designs in formal reviews. You will drive cost reductions through DFM and DFA while ensuring GD&T accuracy and robust documentation. This role is onsite in La Grange, IL and offers contract-to-hire opportunities.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build mechanical components and tooling with proper fits and tolerances based on customer specs
  • 2Coordinate with Applications, Electrical, Software, Process, and Manufacturing teams to align on design intent
  • 3Present finalized mechanical designs to customers during formal design reviews
  • 4Create technical drawings for fabrication and assembly in Creo/Pro/E style
  • 5Check designs and drawings for release to manufacture
  • 6Document engineering calculations and design changes for future reference
  • 7Support manufacturing during the build process and record as-built changes
  • 8Identify spare parts and communicate design intent for machine manuals
  • 9Continuously review products and suggest cost reductions for new and existing designs
  • 10Respond to customer and fabricator questions as applicable

Requirements7

  • 15+ years of mechanical design experience in OEM or capital equipment
  • 2Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or additional 5 years of relevant experience
  • 3Experience using Creo/Pro/E modeling software; experience with FEA in Creo is advantageous
  • 4Experience checking mechanical drawings with advanced GD&T
  • 5Experience documenting engineering calculations and design changes for future reference
  • 6Experience in cost reduction activities such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • 7Proficiency in MS Office, Creo/Pro-E, and WindChill PLM
