Overview
Design and develop complex aerospace components using CATIA V5 and PLM tools ensuring manufacturability and compliance. This role combines advanced 3D modeling with hands-on support for manufacturing and vendor collaboration. Own projects from concept to production while adhering to industry standards.
What You'll Do18
- 1Create and modify 3D models in CATIA V5 including sketch-based solids complex surfaces assemblies and parameterized models
- 2Apply manufacturing knowledge to design metallic components for sheet metal forming subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing
- 3Develop details and assemblies within engine- and vehicle-level digital mock-up environments
- 4Model components using local and global coordinate systems
- 5Operate within PLM software (3DX) following standard configuration management practices
- 6Generate 2D drawings and 3D PDFs ensuring clarity and completeness
- 7Create Model Based Definition using CATIA FTA workbench capturing dimensions tolerances and annotations
- 8Develop and maintain assembly bills of materials reflecting design configurations
- 9Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018 standards to ensure proper fit form and function
- 10Perform tolerance stack-ups interference checks and installation assessments
- 11Write Engineering Orders and implement changes in line with configuration control processes
- 12Conduct weight calculations using hand methods or CATIA tools
- 13Perform design checks and reviews of models and drawings created by other drafters
- 14Support shop customers and vendors by interpreting SSP and customer drawings
- 15Create tooling models and drawings for production assembly and inspection
- 16Follow design documentation and quality policies
- 17Maintain organized clean safe work area
- 18Perform other related engineering and drafting duties as assigned
Requirements14
- 1Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2Minimum four years aerospace design drafting experience with at least 6000 hours CATIA V5 or equivalent
- 3Experience designing metallic components for sheet metal forming subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing
- 4Proficiency in engine-vehicle level DMU environments
- 5Ability to model using local and global coordinate systems
- 6Hands-on experience with PLM software (3DX) and configuration management practices
- 7Strong understanding of GD&T ASME Y14.5-2018 standards
- 8Experience with tolerance stack-ups interference checks and installation assessments
- 9Ability to write Engineering Orders and update existing drawings
- 10Skill in performing weight calculations using hand methods or CATIA tools
- 11Experience conducting design checks on models and drawings produced by others
- 12Effective communication skills for shops customers and vendors
