
Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer, GD&T & CAD Design
Overview
Own manufacturing engineering for aerospace and defense programs at Centraprise Corp in Detroit, impacting 5+ years of production lifecycle. What You'll Do8
- 1Design and update shop aids, tooling, and detail drawings using 2D drafting and 3D CAD tools including SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, Creo, and NX.
- 2Own the creation and maintenance of GD&T callouts and tolerance stack-ups for aerospace components, ensuring compliance with ASME Y14.5.
- 3Lead PFMEA sessions and update templates to mitigate manufacturing risks across new and existing product lines.
- 4Map value streams using VSM and implement lean tools to reduce waste and improve throughput on the shop floor.
- 5Create and maintain work orders and routing in the ERP system, optimizing manufacturing sequences and cycle times.
- 6Collaborate with design engineering to resolve manufacturability issues during the early design phase, leveraging 3D CAD models.
- 7Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production quality issues, using data from inspection and test reports.
- 8Support production launches by training operators on new processes and ensuring documentation meets ISO and AS9100 standards.
Requirements7
- 15+ years in the Aerospace and Defense industry required.
- 27-10 years of manufacturing or production engineering experience, ideally in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
- 3Expert proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D CAD with the ability to create and update drawings.
- 4Strong working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and application in drawings.
- 5Experience with PFMEA templates and performing VSM / lean methodologies.
- 6Hands-on experience with routing and work-order systems, preferably SAP or Oracle.
- 7Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS, ALTIUM, CATIA, Creo, or NX is required.
