Sr. Cost Accountant, Manufacturing & Inventory Analysis
Overview
Own manufacturing cost accounting and inventory analysis for a food production environment at scale. You will partner with the controller to strengthen reporting accuracy, improve financial processes, and deliver actionable insights through data-driven analysis. This onsite role at Pleasanton requires 4 days per week in the office and pays $55-$65 per hour depending on experience. You will contribute to month-end close, variance analysis, and financial reporting improvements.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead core cost accounting activities including product cost review, margin analysis, and tracking of manufacturing expenses
- 2Prepare recurring financial analyses and performance metrics to help leadership evaluate operational and cost trends
- 3Support month-end close with accurate reconciliations and detailed reporting
- 4Collaborate with the controller on general accounting priorities and support financial operations as needed
- 5Analyze variances between actual and expected results, identify key drivers, and communicate findings to stakeholders
- 6Maintain roll-forward schedules and supporting documentation to ensure consistent account activity reporting
- 7Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to preserve financial accuracy
- 8Identify process improvement opportunities and enhance system-based financial workflows
Requirements8
- 15-7 years of accounting experience with a strong foundation in cost accounting and financial analysis
- 2Background in manufacturing, food production, or food and beverage environments is required
- 3Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4Demonstrated skill in cost analysis, inventory-related accounting, and variance reporting
- 5Experience supporting month-end close and preparing reconciliations and account roll-forwards
- 6Proficiency with Sage X3 and intermediate to advanced Excel capabilities
- 7Familiarity with reporting and visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau
- 8Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and enhance system-based financial workflows
