Overview

You will own speech therapy evaluations and treatment plans for home health patients, delivering care across Dallas, Texas. You will partner with physicians and families to restore communication and swallowing function.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Conduct speech and language evaluations, including home environment assessments, to identify functional deficits and equipment needs.
  • 2Develop individualized care plans that target speech, language, and swallowing goals, updating them as patients progress.
  • 3Administer therapeutic interventions using specialized techniques and tools, such as Myofunctional Therapy and VitalStim.
  • 4Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and therapists to coordinate comprehensive care across the home health team.
  • 5Document all evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with Medicare guidelines.
  • 6Instruct patients, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs and communication strategies.
  • 7Refer patients for additional services when needs extend beyond speech therapy scope.
  • 8Supervise home health aides in tasks related to the speech therapy plan of care.
  • 9Maintain current CPR certification and Texas SLP licensure, attending monthly case conferences.

Requirements8

  • 11+ year of clinical experience in home health or geriatric speech therapy.
  • 2Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology from an accredited program.
  • 3Active Texas Speech Therapist license in good standing.
  • 4Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
  • 5Valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle for travel between patient homes.
  • 6Completion or progress toward 350 clock hours of supervised clinical practicum.
  • 7Strong written and verbal communication skills for patient and family education.
  • 8Ability to pass background check and drug screening per Amatus policy.
