Special Education Paraprofessional, Middle School
Overview
You will support Goddard Middle School students in a center-based special education program, implementing individualized instruction and behavior plans under licensed staff supervision. You will join a district team serving 13,000 students across Littleton Public Schools, with a focus on the 100 Percent Goal. This role offers hands-on classroom experience, district-provided crisis prevention training, and a path to grow in special education.
What You'll Do9
- 1Provide individual and small group instruction in reading, writing, and math, using strategies from IEP goals and behavior plans.
- 2Implement team-designed behavior intervention plans, monitoring student progress and adjusting support as needed.
- 3Prepare and modify instructional materials to meet student needs, including assistive technology tools.
- 4Collect and record data for IEP goals and behavior plans, ensuring accurate documentation for licensed staff.
- 5Support students during school activities, including classroom, cafeteria, playground, and community outings.
- 6Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers), as required.
- 7Medically delegated services, including medication administration, after completing required training.
- 8Maintain student confidentiality and adapt to changes in responsibilities and schedules throughout the school day.
- 9Collaborate with teachers and specialists to ensure consistent implementation of strategies and accommodations.
Requirements9
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred.
- 21+ years experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- 3Demonstrated ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, math, or school-readiness skills.
- 4Strong team player with ability to work independently.
- 5Criminal background check required for hire.
- 6CPR and First Aid certifications within 3 months of hire.
- 7Complete district-provided crisis prevention training within the first year.
- 8Medication administration class may be required based on student need.
- 9Physical ability to assist students with mobility, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
