What You'll Do6
- 1Develop fully parametric 3D models and assemblies from written briefs, building stable feature trees and accurate constraints
- 2Update and revise existing models to reflect new requirements while thoroughly documenting every change
- 3Review models for dimensional accuracy, tolerance application, and manufacturability across injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting/forging
- 4Apply DFM guidelines to ensure designs are production-ready and align with customer needs
- 5Convert design intent into well-structured CAD data suitable for AI model training and data curation
- 6Maintain clear, concise project documentation and provide regular written and verbal status updates to teammates and coordinators
Requirements7
- 1At least 4+ years editing parametric CAD models and a minimum of 10+ years creating complex assemblies using tools like SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, or Autodesk Inventor
- 2Strong grasp of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and practical experience applying it in real manufacturing settings
- 3Experience with at least two manufacturing methods such as injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, or casting/forging
- 4Active involvement in mechanical CAD modeling and a track record of producing high-quality, documentation-ready work
- 5Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey design intent and project updates
- 6Reverse engineering capability (eg scan-to-CAD, point cloud processing) is a plus
- 7Exposure to assembly-level modeling and optional CAD workflow automation through scripting (e.g., Python, iLogic, VBA)
