Autodesk Inventor Specialist | $30-$100/hr Remote
Overview
A remote contractor role focused on advanced mechanical design using parametric 3D CAD. You’ll contribute to high quality models and drawings that support AI training data and real-world manufacturability. Expect hands on work with Autodesk Inventor and related tools, shaping how models learn and perform while ensuring precise, manufacturable results.
What You'll Do7
- 1Develop fully parametric 3D models of parts and assemblies from written briefs using Autodesk Inventor or equivalent tools
- 2Update existing models to reflect revised specs while preserving parametric relationships
- 3Audit CAD data for dimensional accuracy, tolerance compliance, and manufacturability, documenting gaps and issues
- 4Create and interpret technical drawings following GD&T standards such as ASME Y14.5
- 5Incorporate robust design for manufacturability across processes including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting/forging
- 6Provide clear documentation and rationale to support AI training inputs and design decisions
- 7Communicate findings and recommendations effectively in both written and verbal formats
Requirements5
- 1Hands on experience with parametric modeling in Autodesk Inventor or closely related platforms
- 2Strong understanding of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5) and practical application
- 3Proven ability to manage assembly-level designs and complex mechanical systems
- 4DFM knowledge across multiple processes (injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting)
- 5Experience with reverse engineering workflows (scan-to-CAD, point cloud to model) and CAD automation or scripting (Python, VBA, iLogic)
Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is a technically proficient mechanical designer who thrives in remote, project-based work. You bring deep hands-on experience with parametric CAD, a keen eye for tolerances and manufacturability, and you can clearly document and justify design decisions for AI training datasets.
