Shipping & Inventory Manager, Steel Fabrication & Logistics
Overview
Own shipping and inventory for a busy steel fabrication shop at scale with hands-on leadership on the shop floor. Lead inbound and outbound shipments, coordinate freight, and maintain precise documentation in a fast-paced industrial setting. Collaborate with production, project management, vendors, and customers to meet shipping deadlines and keep material flow steady. This role blends frontline operations with team supervision to drive accuracy and on-time delivery.
What You'll Do9
- 1Oversee inbound and outbound shipments ensuring accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery
- 2Prepare and maintain shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, and compliance certificates
- 3Coordinate freight, negotiate rates when needed, schedule pickups, and track shipments
- 4Manage inventory of hardware, fabricated components, and finished goods including cycle counts and system updates
- 5Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials; resolve discrepancies promptly
- 6Load and unload trucks with forklift where required and ensure safe handling
- 7Collaborate with production, project management, vendors, and customers to meet deadlines and resolve issues
- 8Maintain a clean, organized shipping and storage area meeting safety standards
- 9Train and supervise shipping/warehouse staff as needed
Requirements11
- 1Proven experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory control in manufacturing or heavy industrial settings
- 2Strong computer skills with ERP systems, Microsoft Office/Excel, and email
- 3Excellent written and verbal communication skills for daily interaction with drivers, vendors, and customers
- 4Willingness to work hands-on in production environments including standing, lifting, forklift operation, and outdoor work in all weather
- 5Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to documentation accuracy and inventory control
- 6Valid driver’s license; forklift certification is a plus
- 7Experience with ERP systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- 8Forklift: 1 year (Preferred)
- 9Inventory control: 1 year (Required)
- 10Shipping & receiving: 1 year (Required)
- 11Microsoft Word/Excel: 1 year (Required)
