Overview
As a Papa Johns Shift Leader in Columbus, Ohio, you own the entire shift: opening or closing the store, managing the team, and ensuring every order meets quality standards. You'll lead a crew of 5-10 hourly staff, oversee food production from dough to delivery, and maintain food safety compliance under pressure. Working directly with the General Manager, you'll sharpen your management skills in a high-volume environment where your decisions directly impact speed, accuracy, and sales. What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the shift by assigning tasks, coaching performance, and keeping the team focused during peak hours.
- 2Oversee food preparation and cooking, verifying that every product meets Papa Johns quality standards and food safety guidelines.
- 3Operate Aloha POS or Micros POS for accurate order entry, cash handling, and end-of-shift reconciliation.
- 4Control inventory by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and minimizing waste through proper rotation and storage.
- 5Train new hires on food handling, customer service, and store procedures, ensuring they pass their 90-day checkpoints.
- 6Enforce health and safety protocols, including temperature checks, sanitation, and proper labeling, to pass surprise audits.
- 7Resolve customer complaints on the spot, turning negative experiences into repeat visits and building brand loyalty.
- 8Drive sales by upselling sides and desserts, promoting loyalty program sign-ups, and tracking hourly targets.
- 9Complete closing duties: reconcile cash drawer, lock up, arm the alarm, and document shift notes for the next leader.
Requirements8
- 11+ years in quick service or fast food restaurants, with hands-on experience in food preparation and food safety.
- 2Hands-on familiarity with Aloha POS or Micros POS for transaction processing and daily closeouts.
- 3Proven ability to supervise a team, whether as a crew lead, shift supervisor, or assistant manager, with strong delegation and conflict resolution skills.
- 4Clear spoken and written communication to coordinate with staff, customers, and management, including English proficiency.
- 5Basic math for cash handling, discount totals, and inventory variance reports.
- 6Working knowledge of HACCP principles and local health department regulations.
- 7Ability to stand 8+ hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and work nights, weekends, and holidays in high-volume periods.
- 8Positive attitude and high energy to sustain a fast pace without sacrificing accuracy.
