Service Manager, Commercial Food Equipment
Overview
You will own branch service operations, leading a team of 8-15 technicians to drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the District Manager, you will coach and train technicians on commercial food equipment, enforce company policies, and collaborate with dispatch, parts, and administration. Your focus is talent development, retention, and meeting or exceeding customer satisfaction metrics. This role offers direct supervisory responsibility and the chance to shape branch performance.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and lead a high-performing field service team, hiring, training, and coaching technicians on commercial food equipment procedures and customer-facing skills.
- 2Drive service revenue growth and profitability by managing your cost center and analyzing financial drivers, including P&L and KPI metrics.
- 3Coach technicians on installation, preventative maintenance, warranty, and emergency service, ensuring quality and compliance with Hobart Service policies.
- 4Develop talent through performance feedback, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving complaints to increase employee retention and engagement.
- 5Collaborate with dispatch, parts, and administration to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and streamline service operations.
- 6Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives, using 80/20 principles to optimize workflows and procedures.
- 7Oversee branch safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and promoting safety and wellness in all service activities.
- 8Plan, assign, and direct work for your team, ensuring adherence to policies and achievement of service level targets.
- 9Address customer issues and conflicts, applying crisis/conflict resolution skills to maintain positive customer relationships.
Requirements10
- 14+ years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or GED, OR 1-3 years with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
- 2Previous management experience required, with direct supervisory responsibilities.
- 3P&L management and cost control experience, including budget administration and expense management.
- 4Knowledge of Annual Operating Plan and Long Range Plan.
- 5Mechanical aptitude and service/product knowledge for commercial food equipment.
- 6Intermediate knowledge of financial drivers, including financial statement analysis and pay practices.
- 7Proven selling and negotiating skills, with experience in consultative sales, cross-selling, and proposal preparation.
- 8Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ability to collect and research data.
- 9Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and coach employees.
- 10Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, walk 3-5 miles per day, and drive 5-6 hours per day.
