Overview

The Senior Writer owns command-level messaging for MEDCOM across speeches, features, news releases, briefings, and digital content for Soldiers, Families, MEDCOM leadership, Congress, and partner organizations. This onsite role partners with a Photographer/Videographer and Multimedia Designer to deliver integrated communications from Falls Church, VA. You’ll shape the Strategic Communication Plan updates and Monthly Status Report to demonstrate impact and reach. What You'll Do8

  • 1Build command-level speeches, feature stories, news releases, briefings, and web and social content for identified stakeholder categories
  • 2Interview diverse MEDCOM subjects to develop original, audience-tailored material
  • 3Develop outreach campaigns and tactical execution plans for major initiatives and high-visibility events
  • 4Analyze and draft updates to stakeholder analysis and the Strategic Communication Plan with audience, message, and channel evaluation
  • 5Apply AP style and AR 360-1 standards to all written products and support government review and approval cycles
  • 6Evaluate campaign performance and recommend improvements to stakeholder collaboration and communication effectiveness
  • 7Lead preparation of the Monthly Status Report with operational tracking and metrics from the full team
  • 8Coordinate kickoff and monthly functional review meetings and provide accurate minutes as required

Requirements5

  • 1Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
  • 2Minimum eight (8) years of professional writing experience including executive or command-level writing
  • 3Demonstrated command of AP style; familiarity with Army public affairs guidance (AR 360-1) preferred
  • 4Ability to work full-time onsite at Falls Church, VA under Government-defined core hours
  • 5Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/NACI and Government-issued CAC
