Senior Traffic Engineer, Civil Infrastructure & Traffic Modeling
Overview
Lead traffic engineering projects at a Mid-Atlantic firm with a 110 year history, delivering signals, ITS, signing, and corridor studies for public and private clients. You will manage projects from concept through construction, mentor staff, and contribute to business development. You will work onsite in Philadelphia with potential client site assignments and collaborate across analysis and design teams to apply advanced modeling tools.
What You'll Do10
- 1Drive design and management of traffic signal, signing, markings, ITS, and lighting projects
- 2Lead traffic safety and operations studies and develop performance-based solutions
- 3Apply Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, VISUM models to support project decisions
- 4Produce technical reports, presentations, and contract documents for construction
- 5Mentor junior staff, perform quality control reviews, and contribute to business development
- 6Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and PennDOT on project requirements
- 7Ensure compliance with AASHTO, MUTCD, HCM, and HSM guidelines
- 8Oversee projects from small intersections to complex interchanges and multimodal plans
- 9Support marketing efforts and capture opportunities in the mid-Atlantic region
- 10Prepare and manage design deliverables and ensure on-time project milestones
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- 2Minimum of 16 years of progressive traffic engineering experience
- 3Proficiency with VISSIM, VISUM, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM, Quickzone
- 4Experience designing traffic control devices including signals, signing, markings, ITS devices, and lighting
- 5Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, HCM, HSM
- 6Licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain via comity
- 7PTOE certification preferred
- 8Experience with PennDOT projects
- 9Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- 10Microsoft Office proficiency and strong communication and organizational skills
Salary Insight
$160 - $240k per year
