Overview

What You'll Do10

  • 1Design and execute complex experiments evaluating hypotheses recommending new approaches updating SOPs ensuring reproducibility and aligning research with lab priorities
  • 2Perform advanced data analysis using R and Python for proteomic transcriptomic epigenetic cDNA microarray RNAseq imaging and develop visualizations
  • 3Develop and maintain novel 3D static and dynamic culture systems including hydrogel scaffolds bioreactors and microgravity culture methods
  • 4Provide scientific leadership mentoring junior staff postdoctoral fellows trainees biologists and laboratory personnel on assay design microscopy HALO imaging software and advanced experimentation
  • 5Manage laboratory operations equipment reagents frozen cell stocks animal samples and electronic notebooks supporting equipment cleaning validation runs and experimental planning
  • 6Collaborate with NIA NIH and external investigators supporting animal protocols grant applications literature searches resource allocation reviews software coordination and weekly scientific updates
  • 7Prepare technical reports manuscripts abstracts publications presentations literature reviews figures and scientific communications for internal groups peer-reviewed publications conferences and meetings
  • 8Maintain clean compliant laboratory space while supporting daily equipment cleaning validation runs inspections experimental planning molecular biology methods model development data analysis and deliverables tied to daily research operations
  • 9Capture incumbent candidate meeting labor category requirements without considering other qualifications
  • 10Apply scientific theories techniques and judgment to research design evaluate findings and communicate results through reports presentations manuscripts publications and other scientific work products

Requirements12

  • 1Ph.D. in Chemistry Biochemistry Biology Genetics Neuroscience or related field
  • 2Minimum ten years advanced scientific expertise in molecular biology biochemistry cell culture 3D organoid culture human organoid media stem cell biology epigenetics aging disease states and related research techniques
  • 3Proficiency with Python R Linux Microsoft Office Suite data management tools and bioinformatics approaches for cleaning curating analyzing interpreting reporting and visualizing large proteomics transcriptomics gene datasets
  • 4Experience with advanced imaging live cell culture optical instrumentation small animal handling animal surgery tissue dissection and animal model systems
  • 5Ability to apply scientific theories techniques and judgment to research design evaluate findings and communicate results through reports presentations manuscripts publications and other scientific work products
  • 6Strong oral and written communication skills mentoring junior scientists postbaccalaureate staff visiting fellows technicians and laboratory personnel
  • 7Must obtain and maintain Federal or DoD public trust clearance prior adjudication with Guidehouse
  • 8Candidates with active public trust or suitability preferred
  • 9Familiarity with HALO imaging software high-complexity image analysis HPLCs microanalytical balances centrifuges spectrophotometers vacuum apparatus optical microscopes and advanced live-cell imaging equipment
  • 10Knowledge of human taste organoids taste stem cells metabolic disorders cancer-related taste research infectious disease models aging-related research and transcriptomic proteomic epigenetic cDNA microarray and RNAseq data
  • 11Background coordinating laboratory resources protocols instrument scheduling databases biopsy inventories clinical samples de-identified participant data and related research documentation
  • 12Demonstrated ability to mentor trainees support postbaccalaureate staff with graduate school preparation and present research at regional national and international scientific meetings
