Overview
Lead discovery efforts and collaborate across functions to drive innovative science and develop strategic initiatives at Gilead's Oncology Research Department. Senior Scientist in Tumor-Intrinsic Biology will mentor a lab-based scientific team and serve as a scientific thought leader throughout the Research organization. This role shapes a differentiated pre-clinical pipeline by balancing risk-taking with thoughtful experimentation.
What You'll Do5
- 1Lead discovery efforts and collaborate across functions to accelerate early-stage discovery activities and enhance understanding of disease mechanisms
- 2Design and execute experiments using cutting-edge methods to analyze and therapeutically target nucleic acid-protein complexes
- 3Mentor a lab-based scientific team, advancing their projects and careers while contributing to research reports INDs and patent filings
- 4Identify project risks and mitigate them effectively through communication with project teams and other leaders
- 5Drive innovation by ideating novel technologies and novel targeting modalities that balance creativity with rigorous experimentation
Requirements5
- 1Ph.D. degree and 3+ years of experience in tumor biology drug discovery target identification and technology development with post-doctoral training preferred
- 2Strong track record of impact including first- or senior-author publications and conference presentations in cancer genomics and oncogenic signaling
- 3Broad technical skillset covering cutting-edge methods in cancer in vitro and in vivo molecular mechanistic experimentation
- 4Experience collaborating within research teams to reach rigorous data-driven decisions and demonstrate success in cross-functional initiatives
- 5Team-centric mindset with ability to motivate diverse backgrounds and excellent communication skills
