Senior Principal Scientist - Human Genetics Leadership
Overview
We seek a senior principal scientist to lead a Human Genetics laboratory driving translation of genetic insights into actionable hypotheses for target discovery. The ideal candidate will establish state-of-the-art experimental capabilities to functionally characterize human genetic variation while managing resources and execution across multiple projects. This role shapes genotype-to-phenotype strategies integrating rare variant genetics and advanced analytical approaches to inform target prioritization.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead and develop a high-performing team of 2-3 wet lab scientists establishing state-of-the-art experimental capabilities to functionally characterize human genetic variation
- 2Manage resources priorities and execution across multiple projects ensuring high-quality data generation interpretation and delivery aligned with strategic goals
- 3Apply genetics expertise to enable recall-by-genotype strategies including participant identification from biobank resources and design of deep phenotyping protocols
- 4Evolve genotype-to-phenotype research strategy translating rare variants into biological hypotheses and target investment decisions
- 5Represent genetics expertise in cross-functional teams and governance boards contributing to portfolio prioritization alongside computational biology and disease area experts
- 6Build and maintain strong internal and external partnerships communicating scientific insights effectively to diverse audiences
- 7Mentor and develop scientists demonstrating proven people leadership skills influencing cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
- 8Connect clinical and/or biobank genetic data to biological mechanisms and therapeutic hypotheses across disease indications
- 9Drive innovation through curiosity for emerging technologies including AI-based approaches for variant interpretation and prioritization
Requirements5
- 1PhD with 8+ years post-graduate experience in genetics focusing on rare variants and/or genotype-to-phenotype translation
- 2Strong background in experimental biology including cellular models and gene perturbation technologies relevant to variant characterization
- 3Extensive experience connecting clinical and/or biobank genetic data to biological mechanisms and therapeutic hypotheses across disease indications
- 4Proven people leadership skills mentoring and developing scientists influencing cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
- 5Curiosity for emerging technologies including AI-based approaches for variant interpretation and prioritization
