Senior Residential Mechanical Designer, HVAC Design
Overview
You will own HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, and equipment selection for residential projects, ensuring ACCA compliance and energy code adherence. You will join a team of 15 engineers and designers, reporting to the Design Manager. This role offers hybrid remote/office flexibility and a path to EIT certification with salary incentives.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead preparation and validation of HVAC load calculations, duct sizing, ventilation strategies, and equipment selection per ACCA standards and energy codes.
- 2Perform advanced QA/QC reviews of mechanical designs and energy modeling deliverables using AutoCAD and Wrightsoft.
- 3Manage complex project scopes, organizing deliverables, milestones, and priorities to meet deadlines.
- 4Coordinate design requirements with internal departments, clients, builders, and architects to resolve technical issues.
- 5Interpret client requirements and jurisdictional constraints to deliver compliant, high-performance designs.
- 6Maintain project documentation and reporting via Excel and SharePoint, ensuring data accuracy.
- 7Mentor junior and mid-level designers on technical procedures, software, and code compliance.
- 8Support onboarding and continuous improvement of design processes and best practices.
Requirements8
- 13+ years in residential HVAC design with advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
- 2Advanced proficiency in HVAC load calculations using Wrightsoft or similar software.
- 3Strong understanding of ACCA Manual J, D, and S methodologies.
- 4Working knowledge of IECC, ENERGY STAR, and state residential energy codes.
- 5Experience with green building programs and high-performance construction preferred.
- 6B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field; EIT strongly encouraged.
- 7Advanced Excel and SharePoint skills for managing calculations and documentation.
- 8Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple projects.
