HVAC Equipment Systems Application Engineer
Overview
Own the technical and commercial execution of HVAC equipment projects for Johnson Controls in Houston, impacting data centers, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. Collaborate with account executives and sales leadership to drive pre-sales design and post-sales delivery. Manage project P&L, schedules, and customer satisfaction across diverse assignments. This role blends engineering depth with project management, offering direct influence on multi-million dollar builds.
What You'll Do8
- 1Validate system configurations and select HVAC equipment for bids, ensuring technical compliance and pricing accuracy.
- 2Develop engineered submittals, interpreting drawings and specs to meet contract, site, and installation requirements.
- 3Manage project P&L and customer satisfaction, driving scope changes and change orders to maximize profitability.
- 4Coordinate factory equipment orders, including technical review, delivery scheduling, and compliance with contract documents.
- 5Support pre-sales by preparing proposals, quotes, and cost estimates, and validating assumptions during design phases.
- 6Visit customer sites to ensure equipment delivery and receipt meet expectations, resolving any logistics issues.
- 7Review vendor invoices for technical and commercial accuracy before approval, ensuring compliance.
- 8Communicate project progress and financial status to management, mitigating risks and ensuring on-time delivery.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 2HVAC industry knowledge with demonstrated application experience
- 35+ years in equipment selection and project execution (inferred from role complexity)
- 4Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio) and Adobe Writer
- 5Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- 6Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with professionalism
- 7US citizenship or permanent residency (no sponsorship)
- 8Preferred: AutoCAD proficiency
