Senior Project Accountant SOLV Energy
Overview
Lead variance advanced accounting functions for large scale construction projects ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory bodies. Oversee financial management of utility scale solar battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. Coordinate with project managers and analyze financial data. Full time office in San Diego or remote Pacific or Central time zones.
What You'll Do19
- 1Oversee all accounting related functions for assigned projects ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures and adhere to GAAP and other regulatory bodies
- 2Assist project teams with complex accounting related questions providing guidance and support
- 3Prepare documentation and assist in interim and year end external audits ensuring thorough and accurate records
- 4Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with project managers to ensure compliance with accounting policies procedures and controls
- 5Understand and review owner contract for accounting related tasks and responsibilities
- 6Review and track Preliminary notices
- 7Possess working knowledge of preparing AIA billings and assembling billing with supporting documentation
- 8Collect and review lien waivers for subcontractors and sub tiers
- 9Ensure subcontractor compliance with document requirements
- 10Process subcontractor payments in a timely manner
- 11Drive team adherence to month end and quarterly deadlines adopting innovative ideas to push a more efficient and accurate closing process
- 12Develop and enhance project accounting processes identifying and implementing improvements for efficiency and accuracy
- 13Perform cost coding and review the accuracy of vendor and subcontractor invoices
- 14Complete month end and year end closing procedures including preparation of complex journal entries financial analysis and respective account reconciliations
- 15Assist tax department in calculating and processing job cost and sales tax accruals in accordance with state and county tax regulations
- 16Assist Accounts Receivable with cash application process for owner billings
- 17Train and mentor other Project Accountants sharing expertise and best practices to enhance team performance
- 18Adhere to all financial deadlines including month end and quarterly reporting by maintaining a sense of urgency for all tasks
- 19Complete other responsibilities as assigned demonstrating flexibility and initiative
Requirements15
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 22 years of construction accounting experience
- 3Strong audit experience required including active participation in interim and year‑end audits
- 4Experience supporting or operating within a publicly traded company familiarity around SOX controls and public‑company reporting standards
- 5Demonstrated understanding of GAAP and compliance requirements in a regulated environment
- 6Strong understanding of accounting procedures and principles
- 7Experience with online integrated accounting systems
- 8Ability to organize work and handle multiple projects
- 9Ability to instruct and review the work of team members and provide assistance
- 10Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills
- 11CPA CMA or CCIFP preferred
- 12Occasional exposure to dust and fumes requiring frequent reaching handling sitting standing walking hearing finger dexterity and talking
- 13Occasional stooping bending crouching carrying and lifting 20 or more lbs
- 14Noise intensity level is moderate
- 15Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future
