Construction Accounting Manager, Electrical Contractor
Overview
You will lead the general ledger team and own full-cycle accounting for a growing electrical and low-voltage contractor in Walnut Creek, CA, with 10+ years of accounting experience and 5+ years in construction. You will manage month-end close, financial reporting, and audits while mentoring staff. This role partners with leadership to drive process improvements and strategic initiatives. The position is fully onsite, paying $125,000-$140,000 annually.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the general ledger team and own full-cycle accounting operations from day one, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close.
- 2Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- 3Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, performing variance analysis to resolve complex accounting issues.
- 4Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and consolidations for leadership and external stakeholders.
- 5Support external audits by coordinating documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- 6Collaborate with finance leadership on strategic initiatives, including Viewpoint Vista system enhancements and workflow improvements.
- 7Drive process improvements across AP, AR, cash management, and project accounting workflows.
- 8Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
- 9Assist with special projects such as system upgrades and operational improvements to enhance team efficiency.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 210+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5+ years as an Accounting Manager in a construction environment.
- 3Strong knowledge of general ledger and full-cycle accounting, including month-end close and reconciliations.
- 4Construction accounting expertise, specifically in project accounting and job costing.
- 5Experience with AP, AR, and cash management processes.
- 6Proven ability to support external audits and coordinate audit documentation.
- 7Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- 8Excellent communication and team management abilities.
- 9Preferred: Experience with Viewpoint Vista ERP.
- 10Preferred: Background in electrical contracting, building automation, or structured cabling industries.
