Overview
You will own the performance, availability, and optimization of Oracle Exadata databases in a hybrid cloud environment spanning AWS and Linux. You will operate within a long-term, 4+ year project supporting critical applications, collaborating closely with engineering and infrastructure teams. Your work will directly impact the reliability and scalability of our database platform, with a focus on proactive health checks, backup and recovery, and automation. This role offers deep technical challenges and the stability of an extended engagement.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and implement Oracle Exadata database configurations on AWS and Linux to meet performance and availability targets.
- 2Own backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies, leveraging RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
- 3Perform proactive monitoring and tuning using AWR, ASH, and Exadata-specific metrics.
- 4Automate repetitive DBA tasks using Shell scripting and Python to reduce manual intervention.
- 5Support application schema design and data migration, ensuring seamless integration with AWS services.
- 6Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries and PL/SQL code for peak efficiency.
- 7Lead incident response and resolution for database-related outages, minimizing downtime.
- 8Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for team reference.
- 9Drive capacity planning and scaling strategies for Exadata and AWS resources.
Requirements9
- 15+ years administering Oracle Exadata in production environments.
- 2Hands-on experience with Oracle 19c and 12c versions.
- 3Proficiency in RMAN, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and ASM.
- 4Strong knowledge of Linux system administration (RedHat, OEL).
- 5Experience with AWS database services (RDS, EC2, S3) and hybrid architectures.
- 6Solid understanding of Exadata architecture including Storage Cells, Flash Cache, and Smart Scans.
- 7Working knowledge of Shell scripting and Python for automation.
- 8Familiarity with AWR, ASH, and SQL Tuning Advisor.
- 9Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
