Overview
You will manage and support enterprise-scale Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases across Exadata and VM platforms, ensuring high availability and performance for critical systems at Alltech Consulting Services in Charlotte, NC. You will join a dedicated infrastructure team responsible for database architecture, migration programs, and incident resolution. This role offers direct involvement in datacenter transformation projects, with exposure to cutting-edge Exadata and SQL Server 2022 technologies.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and configure Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c) and Microsoft SQL Server instances (2016/2019/2022) on VM platforms.
- 2Design high-availability and disaster recovery solutions using Oracle Data Guard and SQL Server Always On.
- 3Drive database migrations from legacy systems to Exadata and modern VM environments, minimizing downtime.
- 4Scale database performance through index tuning, query optimization, and resource monitoring.
- 5Debug complex database issues, including replication, backup, and restoration failures.
- 6Own capacity planning and storage management for database servers, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
- 7Lead database security implementations, including user access controls and encryption standards.
- 8Automate routine database maintenance tasks using PowerShell and Shell scripts.
- 9Collaborate with application teams to resolve database-related incidents within SLAs.
Requirements9
- 16+ years as an Enterprise Database Administrator supporting Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server in large-scale environments.
- 2Strong understanding of database architecture, design, and administration for Oracle (11g/12c/19c) including Exadata.
- 3Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) on VM platforms.
- 4Proven experience supporting datacenter or platform migration programs, including planning, execution, and post-migration validation.
- 5Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard.
- 6Experience with SQL Server Always On availability groups and clustering.
- 7Knowledge of T-SQL and PL/SQL for query tuning and scripting.
- 8Familiarity with backup and recovery tools such as RMAN and SQL Server Backup.
- 9Ability to work onsite in Charlotte, NC from day one.
