Senior Operations Supervisor, Supply Chain & Logistics
Overview
Owning daily dispatch, trailer loading, and customer service for a Dallas logistics hub, you run the floor with a workforce of hourly associates and drivers. You coordinate with Penske systems to hit delivery schedules and cost targets, with direct authority over hiring, corrective action, and workforce scheduling. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you join a team of 10 supervisors and 150 associates moving 500+ loads weekly. Your decisions on route planning and equipment use cut overtime and boost on-time performance, with bonus potential tied to your results.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build shift schedules for 20+ drivers and warehouse associates, aligning truck runs with customer volumes and private fleet capacity.
- 2Supervise loading, unloading, and cross-docking to meet safety and productivity targets, using Penske systems to track exceptions.
- 3Interview hourly candidates and recommend hires, then coach new associates on Penske procedures and equipment handling.
- 4Monitor attendance and productivity metrics, delivering recognition or counseling to keep performance on track.
- 5Adjust work methods on the fly to reduce idle time and improve dispatch efficiency, documenting changes for management review.
- 6Complete records for inventory, returns, and damages, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
- 7Enforce safety rules and regulatory compliance, conducting spot checks on equipment use and PPE adherence.
- 8Partner with customers to understand their volume forecasts and align daily operations with their goals.
- 9Cover associate absences by stepping into dispatch or loading tasks to keep operations moving.
- 10Lead continuous improvement projects that cut damage rates or speed up dock-to-stock times.
Requirements8
- 12-4 years in logistics or supply chain operations, including supervising hourly staff.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3Strong verbal and written communication skills for shift briefings and customer updates.
- 4Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint for reporting and scheduling.
- 5Willingness to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, with flexibility for peak season and holidays.
- 6Ability to travel as needed and pass background check and drug screening.
- 7Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for long periods.
- 8Proven track record of meeting productivity targets and controlling overtime costs.
