What You'll Do9
- 1Operate engine lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses to machine components to tight tolerances.
- 2Assemble and align high-precision air bearing spindle assemblies, ensuring proper fit and functionality within micron-level tolerances.
- 3Measure components using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and optical measuring equipment to verify specifications.
- 4Conduct performance testing and analyze measurement data to make mechanical adjustments that meet performance specs.
- 5Document production records, inspection data, and test results using computer-based systems.
- 6Perform fitting, alignment, and adjustment of spindle subassemblies, including balancing and vibration testing.
- 7Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and refine assembly processes for air bearing systems.
- 8Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols.
- 9Support the manufacture of precision stages and rotating equipment, applying GD&T and assembly drawings.
Requirements10
- 14-6 years of related machining and precision assembly experience.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
- 3Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
- 4Strong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and geometric relationships.
- 5Experience with air bearing systems, spindles, motors, or precision stages.
- 6Proficiency in manual machining: lathe, milling, surface grinding, and precision drilling.
- 7Experience with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
- 8Basic computer proficiency for electronic drawings and data recording.
- 9Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- 10Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and excellent visual acuity.
