Overview
You will machine, fit, assemble, and test high-precision air bearing spindle systems at KLA, supporting the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Operating manual lathes, mills, surface grinders, and precision measurement tools, you'll drive micron-level assembly outcomes. You'll work independently from engineering drawings and process documentation. This role combines traditional machining with precision assembly and testing. What You'll Do8
- 1Operate manual machine tools including engine lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses.
- 2Perform honing, polishing, lapping, and finishing operations on precision components.
- 3Fit, align, assemble, and adjust high-precision air bearing spindle assemblies and subassemblies.
- 4Measure and inspect components using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and optical measuring equipment.
- 5Assemble components to micron-level tolerances ensuring proper fit and functionality.
- 6Conduct testing and performance verification of spindle systems.
- 7Analyze measurement and test data, making mechanical adjustments to achieve performance specs.
- 8Maintain accurate production records, inspection data, and test documentation using computer-based systems.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
- 21-2 years of related machining experience.
- 3Strong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, fits, and geometric relationships.
- 4Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
- 5Experience with air bearing systems, spindle assembly, motors, or precision stages preferred.
- 6Familiarity with semiconductor, aerospace, optics, or precision manufacturing industries preferred.
- 7Knowledge of balancing, vibration testing, and performance testing preferred.
- 8Basic understanding of electronics and electromechanical systems preferred.
- 9Experience with test stands and computerized measurement equipment preferred.
- 10Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
