Manual Machinist, Precision Pharmaceutical Equipment
Overview
You will own the machining and initial inspection of precision parts for pharmaceutical and confectionery equipment, using manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders. You will work with metals and polymers like Stainless, Carbon, Alum, Delrin, and UHMW. You will join a team that has built machines for leading brands for nearly 50 years. Your work will directly impact the quality of laser printing and drilling systems. This role offers a chance to apply your craft in a stable, specialized industry.
What You'll Do10
- 1Select, set up, remove, and debur all tooling and parts on manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders.
- 2Perform machining and initial inspection of parts, verifying dimensions with calipers and micrometers.
- 3Adjust speeds and feeds on each machine to match material hardness and cutting requirements.
- 4Complete predefined preventative maintenance tasks on all machines to ensure consistent performance.
- 5Operate a manual lathe to produce cylindrical parts with tight tolerances.
- 6Operate a Bridgeport mill for vertical machining of complex geometries.
- 7Inspect vendor-received parts against specifications and report discrepancies.
- 8Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to determine machining sequences.
- 9Fit and build small assemblies from drawings, ensuring proper alignment and function.
- 10Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow all safety protocols.
Requirements10
- 13+ years experience as a manual machinist in a construction or manufacturing environment.
- 2Demonstrated safety awareness with training in hazardous material handling.
- 3Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders accurately.
- 4Experience using hand tools and power tools for machining and assembly.
- 5Understanding of speeds and feeds and how they relate to different materials.
- 6Capable of fitting and building small assemblies from drawings.
- 7Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 8Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
- 9High School Diploma or GED.
- 10Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet customer demands.
