Ciena seeks a Senior Fiber Coupling Engineer to lead micro-optic design and innovation at our New Providence office. What You'll Do11
- 1Lead micro-optic design and modeling initiatives supporting high-volume manufacturing requirements
- 2Develop and optimize micro-optic assemblies connecting optical fibers to silicon photonic integrated circuits
- 3Design and analyze micro-optic components using Zemax optics simulator
- 4Create C#-based automation tools for instrument control assembly processes and data acquisition
- 5Conduct in-lab design-of-experiment activities to validate and refine optical designs
- 6Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align development with Design for Manufacture principles
- 7Drive technical decision-making as a lead engineer on development projects
- 8Perform as lead engineer managing complex development projects
- 9Implement physical-optics simulation using Ansys Lumerical as a nice-to-have skill
- 10Execute extensive in-lab DOE and hardware development
- 11Act as subject matter expert in optical transceiver technology for data centers
Requirements14
- 15+ years industry experience in micro-optics optical engineering or related field
- 2Expert-level proficiency with Zemax optics simulation software
- 3Hands-on experience in micro-optic and fiber-optic design assembly and prototyping
- 4C# programming skills for automation and instrument control
- 5Knowledge of optical transceiver technology used in data centers
- 6Extensive in-the-lab DOE and hardware development experience
- 7Ability to perform as lead engineer in complex development projects
- 8Nice-to-have: Physical-optics simulation using Ansys Lumerical
- 9Nice-to-have: Mechanical design experience using SolidWorks or equivalent tools
- 10Familiarity with silicon photonics packaging methods
- 11Understanding of high-volume manufacturing workflows for optical assemblies
- 12Knowledge of emerging optical interconnect technologies
- 13Experience collaborating with semiconductor or photonics manufacturing partners
- 14Background in optical system-level integration
