Senior Systems Engineer, Optical Metrology
Overview
You will own optical metrology technology development and performance optimization for Onto Innovation, a leader in semiconductor process control. You will work with cross-functional teams in software, hardware, and applications science to define specifications and validate system performance. What You'll Do8
- 1Align, optimize, and validate complex optical systems for 3D metrology products.
- 2Develop operational methods that maximize tool performance in fab environments.
- 3Design and execute experiments to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve optical metrology systems.
- 4Drive performance improvement plans and execute them within project timelines.
- 5Generate internal and external technical presentations for engineering and field teams.
- 6Communicate requirements and specifications clearly to software, hardware, and applications groups.
- 7Support on-site installation of first-in-fab metrology tools, including tool matching and handoff.
- 8Create procedures and training documents to educate local engineering teams.
Requirements8
- 1Ph.D. in Engineering or Sciences with focus on optical physics.
- 22-3 years of experience with complex optical systems, analysis, and applications development, including broadband light sources for spectroscopy and ellipsometry.
- 3Hands-on experience integrating precision optical and optomechanical components.
- 4Proficiency in data analysis using Python, Matlab, or similar scripting tools.
- 5Strong analytical capability for systematic troubleshooting of optical systems.
- 6Prior experience with semiconductor capital equipment, including working knowledge of optical processing, metrology, or inspection products.
- 7Experience working on prototype systems in a lab setting.
- 8Track record of new product development and support in the semiconductor industry.
