Senior Electrical Engineer, Power Systems
Overview
Design HV/MV/LV power distribution systems for a first-of-its-kind chemical refining process, from concept through energization. You will lead electrical engineering for a contract role based in San Francisco or Houston, working onsite with a multidisciplinary team. What You'll Do8
- 1Design HV/MV/LV power distribution systems for a novel chemical refining process, from concept through energization, using ETAP or SKM for system modeling.
- 2Produce and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel schedules, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, and conduit/cable schedules, ensuring compliance with NEC and IEEE standards.
- 3Conduct load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, and protective coordination studies, using ETAP or EasyPower, and document results.
- 4Specify and select electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, motors, and variable frequency drives, coordinating with vendors and procurement.
- 5Coordinate with mechanical, process, and controls engineers to integrate electrical systems with overall plant design, using AutoCAD and Revit.
- 6Lead site surveys and inspections during construction and commissioning, verifying installation and testing per specifications.
- 7Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and review their designs for accuracy and code compliance.
- 8Support the commissioning team with energization plans, start-up procedures, and troubleshooting of electrical issues.
Requirements8
- 110+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power distribution for industrial or chemical facilities.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred.
- 3Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower for system modeling and analysis.
- 4Experience with AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and documentation.
- 5In-depth knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards for power systems.
- 6Hands-on experience with HV/MV/LV switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.
- 7Proven track record of managing multiple design projects from concept to commissioning.
- 8Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
