What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the planning and execution of migration from self-managed SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS (SQL Server)
- 2Drive database cost optimization through right-sizing instances and evaluating Reserved Instances
- 3Upskill and mentor the existing Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices
- 4Establish cloud-native database monitoring and alerting using Datadog and CloudWatch
- 5Design and implement automated backup restore and disaster recovery processes with AWS Backup
- 6Perform query optimization indexing and capacity planning for hospice applications
- 7Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation using Terraform for RDS
- 8Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for all database systems
- 9Support Hospice application team with database-related development needs
- 10Evaluate future database modernization opportunities such as PostgreSQL and Aurora for 2027 roadmap
Requirements11
- 1Minimum 8+ years of database administration experience
- 2Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning and high availability
- 3Proven experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup migration and monitoring
- 4Strong knowledge of backup/restore strategies point-in-time recovery and cross-region replication
- 5Familiarity with monitoring tools Datadog CloudWatch SQL Server DMVs
- 6Proficiency in T-SQL stored procedures and query optimization
- 7Experience in regulated environments HIPAA HITRUST SOC2
- 8Preferred AWS certifications Database Specialty Solutions Architect
- 9Experience with Terraform database infrastructure management
- 10Background with alternative databases PostgreSQL Aurora for modernization
- 11Knowledge of Windows Server administration
