Overview
You own complex billing for high-revenue partners at Katten, a 650-attorney law firm, using Elite and Aderant. You resolve discrepancies, manage e-billing platforms, and ensure compliance. You collaborate with Capital Partners and clients, with year-end intensity. This role offers hybrid flexibility and mentorship opportunities.
What You'll Do10
- 1Manage a portfolio of complex billing assignments supporting partners with large, sophisticated books of business.
- 2Prepare and finalize client invoices using advanced methodologies including consolidated billing and alternative fee arrangements (AFAs).
- 3Perform pre-bill reviews to verify accuracy, flag non-billable entries, and resolve discrepancies before attorney approval.
- 4Analyze billing discrepancies and account variances, reconciling misapplied funds and enforcing client guidelines.
- 5Submit electronic invoices through Billblast and eBillingHub, monitoring status and resolving rejections.
- 6Partner with attorneys and legal assistants to interpret billing guidelines and resolve complex issues.
- 7Create detailed Excel reports to support client-specific needs and decision-making.
- 8Review aged work-in-process (WIP) and recommend write-offs or retain balances with justification.
- 9Mentor junior billing staff on procedures and best practices, fostering team development.
- 10Collaborate with accounting to research payment applications and resolve discrepancies.
Requirements9
- 110+ years progressive billing/e-billing experience, preferably in a large legal or professional services firm.
- 2Bachelor's degree required.
- 3Advanced knowledge of Elite, Aderant, CMS, or comparable legal billing systems.
- 4Extensive experience with e-billing platforms like Billblast and eBillingHub.
- 5Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, and Adobe.
- 6Demonstrated ability to interpret complex client billing guidelines and alternative fee arrangements.
- 7Strong analytical skills to reconcile discrepancies and manage multiple reports simultaneously.
- 8Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for attorney and client interactions.
- 9Ability to work overtime at month-end and year-end, with availability from November 15 through January 31.
