Senior Aruba Network Engineer, ClearPass & HPE
Overview
You will design, implement, and support enterprise networks built on HPE Aruba technologies, with deep focus on Aruba ClearPass access control. You will work with a team of engineers managing network infrastructure for a large client, with up to 35% travel to sites in NY, Chicago, Phoenix, and San Francisco. This role demands hands-on configuration and troubleshooting, not just oversight. You will own the network lifecycle from design to deployment, ensuring secure, scalable access for thousands of users.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design Aruba wireless and wired network architectures, including ClearPass policy enforcement and RADIUS authentication.
- 2Deploy Aruba ClearPass for 802.1X authentication, guest access, and device profiling across multiple sites.
- 3Configure and manage Aruba Mobility Controllers and ArubaOS-Switch features, including VRF and VLAN segmentation.
- 4Troubleshoot network issues using Wireshark, Aruba AirWave, and ClearPass logs, resolving problems within SLA.
- 5Implement Aruba best practices for high availability, including VSX and RAPIDS, ensuring minimal downtime.
- 6Collaborate with security teams to integrate ClearPass with Active Directory and PKI for certificate-based access.
- 7Document network changes and create runbooks for operations, reducing mean time to resolution by 30%.
- 8Migrate legacy Cisco network segments to Aruba, ensuring seamless cutover with zero user impact.
- 9Provide on-call support for critical network incidents, triaging and escalating within 15 minutes.
Requirements9
- 17+ years hands-on experience with HPE Aruba networking, including ArubaOS and ClearPass.
- 2Aruba Certified Professional (ACMP or ACSP) required; Aruba Certified Design Expert (ACDX) preferred.
- 3Expert-level knowledge of 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, and PKI authentication flows.
- 4Proficiency with Wireshark and AirWave for deep packet analysis and network monitoring.
- 5Experience with VSX, VRF, and VLAN design in large campus environments.
- 6Strong understanding of firewall policies and integration with ClearPass for dynamic segmentation.
- 7Ability to travel 35% on short notice to client sites in NY, Chicago, Phoenix, and San Francisco.
- 85+ years experience in enterprise network operations, with a track record of successful upgrades.
- 9Excellent documentation skills and ability to present design decisions to stakeholders.
