Senior Accountant, Homebuilding Industry & Month-End Close
Overview
Own month-end close and balance sheet integrity for a homebuilding division in Delaware with onsite, contract-to-permanent placement. You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting to support accurate statements and informed business decisions. This role requires hands-on general ledger experience and the ability to operate in a deadline-driven environment. You will collaborate with division leadership to ensure compliance with internal standards and updated accounting guidance.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead core month-end close activities ensuring entries, reconciliations, and reporting are finalized on schedule
- 2Review balance sheet activity and complete detailed account reconciliations to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- 3Record journal entries for routine and non-routine transactions in accordance with accounting guidelines
- 4Evaluate financial data and provide analysis on significant accounts to support business decisions
- 5Support adoption and application of updated accounting guidance across relevant transactions and reporting areas
- 6Examine financial statements for completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal standards
- 7Produce ad hoc reports, analyses, and special project support requested by division leadership
- 8Maintain ethical standards to support operational excellence and company performance
Requirements7
- 1Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience including responsibility for month-end close and general ledger activities
- 2Prior accounting experience in the homebuilding industry is required
- 3Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and perform detailed account reconciliations
- 4Experience with bank reconciliations and analysis of key balance sheet accounts
- 5Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and review
- 6Knowledge of applying accounting standards to day-to-day business transactions
- 7Ability to manage multiple deadlines in an onsite, fast-paced business environment
