Scholar Success Specialist, Family Engagement & Attendance
Overview
You will own attendance improvement, family engagement, and behavioral interventions for 300+ scholars at an accredited public charter Montessori school in Washington, DC. Working with school leaders, teachers, counselors, and community partners, you will build systems that remove barriers to learning. You will drive progress on the ASPIRE Framework KPIs, reducing chronic absenteeism and increasing family participation. This role stands out for its focus on proactive, data-driven interventions and restorative practices.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the school's attendance improvement strategy, monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly attendance data to identify scholars at risk for chronic absenteeism.
- 2Develop and implement individualized attendance success plans, conducting family meetings to address barriers and set attendance goals.
- 3Coordinate attendance interventions with staff and community partners, including home visits and early warning systems for timely support.
- 4Build and execute the annual Family Engagement Plan, increasing family participation through workshops, events, and surveys.
- 5Participate in Student Support Team meetings, supporting MTSS and Response to Intervention systems.
- 6Conduct classroom observations and behavioral consultations, providing short-term interventions and assisting with behavior intervention plans.
- 7Promote a culturally responsive school climate, coordinating attendance celebrations and scholar recognition initiatives.
- 8Develop community partnerships to connect families with resources for counseling, housing, healthcare, and food security.
- 9Maintain confidential student records and prepare required reports for school leadership, ensuring compliance with attendance and student support procedures.
Requirements8
- 13+ years in student support, family engagement, or attendance coordination in a school setting
- 2Experience with MTSS and Response to Intervention frameworks
- 3Strong data analysis skills using Excel or similar tools to track attendance and intervention outcomes
- 4Experience conducting home visits and family conferences
- 5Knowledge of McKinney-Vento Act and homeless student support
- 6Excellent communication skills for liaising with families, staff, and community partners
- 7Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information
- 8Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field
