Satellite Operator Muon Space
Overview
Muon Space seeks a Satellite Operator to lead our Operations team in San Jose, CA. You will oversee satellite operations ensure monitoring and maintenance of our fleet while collaborating with engineering teams to perform special operations calibrations and orbital maneuvers. This onsite role requires 5x weekly presence in our San Jose office.
What You'll Do7
- 1Execute satellite operation procedures and monitor health and safety of our on-orbit satellite fleet
- 2Collaborate with engineers to execute operation plans and maintain service continuity
- 3Analyze telemetry data and satellite health reports to assess performance identify issues and implement preventive measures
- 4Troubleshoot and resolve anomalies using established procedures and technical expertise
- 5Execute satellite maneuvers including orbit corrections and station-keeping to optimize performance
- 6Support commissioning of new satellites into the fleet for smooth transition from launch to operational phase
- 7Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation approximately one week per month as a core responsibility

- 3Ability to work independently and in a team with initiative and effective communication
- 4Associate degree or equivalent experience
- 5Nice-to-have: Operations experience with spacecraft ground stations or complex communication systems
- 6Strong understanding of satellite subsystems including power propulsion communication and payload
- 7Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in satellite operations
- 8Experience with Python Julia or another high-level scripting language
Salary Insight
$64 - $83k per year
