Product Manager II - Spacecraft Software Platform
Overview
Muon Space seeks a Product Manager to own the flight software platform and onboard compute. The role reports to the Director of Product Management and leads end-to-end capabilities ensuring spacecraft meet mission objectives. This hybrid position involves three days weekly on-site work in San Jose. The ideal candidate drives product quality schedule adherence and customer value while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do11
- 1Own the product roadmaps for the flight software platform and onboard compute
- 2Define and prioritize features that enhance product quality schedule adherence or customer value
- 3Author clear Product Requirements Documents and drive alignment
- 4Partner with the Director of Product Management to develop product area strategies including build/buy decisions
- 5Conduct customer interviews gather feedback on product-market fit and translate insights into product artifacts
- 6Coordinate with engineering teams across flight software hardware and mission systems to define features and roadmap
- 7Collaborate with other software product managers on intersecting roadmaps
- 8Coordinate with the Director of PM – Federal on defense-aligned product needs and inputs to roadmap
- 9Work with VP of Product and broader PM team on strategic roadmap decisions and prioritization trade-offs
- 10Lead development of major features or programs spanning multiple months
- 11Execute independently across multiple concurrent workstreams
Requirements11
- 13–5 years of Product Management experience with successful software product ownership in complex technical environments
- 2Experience in flight software embedded systems robotics or adjacent deep-tech domains
- 3Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with multiple engineering teams simultaneously
- 4Demonstrated success delivering major features or programs under shifting schedules
- 5Independent execution across concurrent workstreams
- 6Strong fluency translating customer mission needs into detailed product requirements and acceptance criteria
- 7Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Computer Science or related field
- 8Active U.S. government security clearance
- 9Familiarity with flight software embedded systems or real-time operating systems
- 10Experience with onboard or edge compute trade-offs between orbital and ground processing
- 11Prior experience in startup or high-growth technology environments
